How you can support the SIT AND BE FIT Television Series

Be An Advocate for Senior Fitness Programming:

  • If your local PBS station doesn't air SIT AND BE FIT, give them a call.  Ask to speak with the station's Program Director and/or General Manager.  Encourage them to add SIT AND BE FIT to their programming schedule. Senior exercise programming promotes healthy aging for their older adult viewers. SIT AND BE FIT is offered for free to all PBS stations.  Programs are available through the NETA distribution center.
  • If your local PBS station airs the SIT AND BE FIT television series, please call and thank them.  Ask to speak with the station's Program Director and/or General Manager and let them know how much you appreciate them airing the senior exercise programs.
  • If your local PBS station doesn't air SIT AND BE FIT at least 3 times per week or at convenient times, give them a call!  Ask to speak with the station's Program Director and/or General Manager.  Ask them if they might consider airing the program more often and at a more convienient time.  Be sure to thank them for airing programs that support senior fitness and healthy aging.

Share SIT AND BE FIT With Others:

  • How you can help SIT AND BE FIT.... Tell your friends and family about the senior exercise program and how it has helped you.
  • How you can help SIT AND BE FIT... Inform physicians and health care providers that you come into contact with about the availability of free, safe, senior exercise programs via the SIT AND BE FIT television series.
  • How you can help SIT AND BE FIT... Share information about the senior fitness series with local retirement centers and assisted living facilities. The  SIT AND BE FIT television series works great in community senior exercise classes.
  • How you can help SIT AND BE FIT... Contact SIT AND BE FIT at sitandbefit@sitandbefit.org and request information be sent to those you know who may be interested in or benefit from the SIT AND BE FIT television series.

Your Support Makes It Possible For SIT AND BE FIT To:

  • Provide free healthy aging and senior fitness television programming to all Americans in the privacy of their own homes
  • Produce new senior exercise programs, keeping up-to-date programming available that reflects current research related to healthy aging
  • Help individuals manage chronic health conditions, recover from surgeries, and rehabilitate from injury and/or accidents
  • Educate senior exercise instructors through the Continuing Education Program
  • Offer healthy aging related print materials and senior fitness resources to thousands of mail, telephone and e-mail inquiries each year
  • Promote healthy lifestyle behaviors to a sedentary and often isolated population
