*Persons 65 years or older numbered 37+ million in 2006-2008 US census. 
*Persons represent 12.6% of the U.S. population
*Persons reaching age 65 have an average life expectancy of an additional 18.7 years (20  years for females and 17.2 years for males).
*By the year 2030, the older population is expected to more than double to 71.5 million.
*There were 96,548 persons ages 100 and older in 2008 (0.0002% of the total population).  This number has almost tripled from the 1990 figure of 37,306.
*The median net worth of the elderly household in 2004 was $176,685 as compared to $138,367 for the total population.
