KNEE REPLACEMENT AND EXERCISE
Exercise is the best way for a recovering knee surgery patient to restore their strength and flexibility following the surgery. The goal of exercise after knee replacement surgery is to quickly restore increasing motion in the knee following surgery, help minimize muscle loss, regain the muscle strength and prevent stiffness of the new knee joint. Those with knee replacements either recovering from recent surgery or a few months out of surgery first must have consent from their physician or physical therapist before beginning any exercise program. We would also expect that your physician or physical therapist has recommended knee replacement exercises specific to your condition that you will need to do for several weeks upon release from the physician. Following your prescribed therapy, you can begin to exercise with SIT AND BE FIT. SIT AND BE FIT is an excellent exercise option for post- knee surgery patients because it has very little impact on your knees. However, there will be some exercises in our videos that you will need to modify or skip to prevent further injury. Be sure to speak with your physician about what you should and should not do.
