Dear Carolyn, Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, your orthopedic specialist is the best source for tailoring exercises (like the sit-to-stand movement) to fit your specific needs according to your body. The two of you are the expert when it comes to what's best for your body. As a rule, pain is your body's way of telling you to stop an exercise. You should feel and function better after a workout. It's wonderful that you have your orthopedic doctor to help guide you. What a blessing! Keep up the good work of gentle exercise, first and foremost, always listening to your body. Wishing you good health and happiness.
Warm regards from the Sit and Be Fit team

Dear Tina,
Can you forward your postal mailing address to sitandbefit@sitandbefit.org and request a free copy of our 8-page Exercise Guide for Neuropathy. It includes many wonderful exercises for the feet that will benefit you. Please also request the free GBS handout. It includes exercises for those recovering from and managing GBS symptoms. Pool exercises aren't our specialty so we don't have any printed information about hydrotherapy exercises but you could certainly incorporate the exercises from the handouts we will be sending you. Be encouraged by your progress thus far. It's wonderful you are able to walk with no support! Keep up the great work of exercise and of moving forward with the vision of a complete recovery. Slow and steady wins the race. We are cheering you on. Warmest regards, Gretchen

Hi
I was diagnosed with chronic GBS in June 2021 and was in hospital from June till September where my condition worsened as time passed to the point where I was completely paralysed. My treatment was a combination of IVIG (4 doses each after few weeks interval) steroids & Chemo medication after which finally my condition improved and since September I’ve been improving from being in a wheelchair to progressing to a walker and now I am able to walk with no support. But the sensation in my feet & hands is not back to normal. Is there anything I can do for my feet to get back the sensation ? Also I’ve been told that hydro therapy is highly recommended for GBS patients. Could you recommend what pool exercises can be done to help. Thank you

My orthopedic doctor told me never to stand up like that. He said I should be able to see my toes before standing. It may be my particular knee issue that causes him to give me that advice because my inclination has been to do what you suggest even though painful for me. I have had sprains/tears in the hamstrings where they attach to the back of the knee which have taken months to resolve.

Hi Kathryn,
Be sure to give your station a call and let them know you would like the program aired at a more reasonable time! We have no control over when stations air Sit and Be Fit. We offer the series to all PBS stations for free and it is up to the Program Manager at each station to decide if, when and how often they will make the program available in your community. Let you voice be heard:) In the world of PBS, viewer feedback really makes a difference. Wishing you the very best!

I love my Sit And Be Fit exercise towel!!!! It is so soft and made from 100% cotton!!!! Very soft and I love the feel of it and it is exactly what it says it is 44 inches long and 13 inches wide!!!! It's a great small towel to exercise with but not your basic bath towel!!!!! Anyway it works for muscle strengthening and stretching exercises!!!! By the way, Mary Ann Wilson I just wanted to say I love your show and Sit And Be Fit has worked wonders for me and I love waking up early at 4:30 AM just to watch your show at 5:00 AM Mississippi time!!!! Also along with the towel I got a Small Ball, Large Ball, Rubber Bands and weights which work perfectly for the exercises!!!! The exercise equipment was definitely a great birthday present!!!!
