Mission

We believe everyone has the right to feel good and age well at any stage of their life. We empower people to improve their lives through safe, effective wellness programming presented through our media-based nonprofit organization.

Background

Sit and Be Fit was founded in 1985 by registered nurse, Mary Ann Wilson. After seeing older adults become injured and frustrated in her traditional aerobics classes, Wilson designed Sit and Be Fit as a new low-impact exercise program. The results were overwhelmingly positive, inspiring her to approach PBS station KSPS-TV about bringing it to television. In 1987, the first season of Sit and Be Fit was aired by public television stations. The syndicated series has been airing throughout the United States and Canada to this day, continuing to grow in popularity and relevance.
