What is the difference between VHS and DVD?

The Video Home System, which is commonly known as VHS, is a method of storing video files for playback. DVDs (Digital Versatile Discs) also serve the same purpose but in an entirely different way.

At the physical level, we can see that DVDs are a lot smaller compared to VHS tapes and are circular in shape. DVDs also lack moving parts which make them more reliable than VHS tapes. On the technical aspect, VHS stores the video and audio information in an analog format while DVDs use the digital format. This means that the video from DVDs can be reproduced more accurately than with VHS tapes which are quite prone to distortion.

How do I know what Sit and Be Fit workout is best for me?

While we are happy to guide you in deciding which tape best suits you, only you know your own limitations. As you consider your personal exercise needs and limitations, we offer a Search By Medical Condition.  The general workouts, such as Season 11, 12, 13, 14 are favorites because they offer multiple episodes that are good for anyone. The very best way to have access to all Sit and Be Fit programs is to join the Stream Club. Please, feel free to call us toll free at 1-888-678-9438 if you would like additional help!

Why doesn't Sit and Be Fit air in my city?

Unfortunately, it is not up to Sit and Be Fit to decide where we air our television series. We offer the program for free and encourage PBS stations to make this resource available to their viewers, but each TV station decides whether or not to air Sit and Be Fit.

It is the voice of our audience that can be effective in advocating for the program. If you wish to view Sit and Be Fit, or to continue viewing the program but with greater frequency, the best way to make the request is to contact your local station’s program manager and speak with them directly. To find contact information for your local PBS station, visit our PBS Contact page.

If your local PBS station doesn’t wish to broadcast Sit and Be Fit, you may be interested in joining our Streaming Club or visiting our online store.

How do I find out when Sit and Be Fit is airing in my city?

If Sit and Be Fit is airing in your neighborhood, but you are not sure of the day and time, please visit our Weekly Station Guide page. This page is updated on a monthly basis according to information provided to us by TRAC Media Services. If your local station is not listed, then they are choosing not to air our program. If this is the case, please visit our PBS Contact Information page to find out how to contact your local PBS station program manager and request that they air Sit and Be Fit.

If you do not know your local PBS station’s call sign (e.g. KSPS, KWSU, etc.), you can find it by turning on your TV and changing the channel to your PBS station is. The call sign should be in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

How can I change what time a station airs Sit and Be Fit?

Unfortunately, Sit and Be Fit doesn’t have any control over broadcast times. Since each PBS station decides if and when to air Sit and Be FIT, the most effective way to request a schedule change is to contact your local station manager and voice your opinion.

For contact information for your local PBS station, visit our PBS Contact Information page.

Is the city listed in the PBS station guide the only city that can access Sit and Be Fit?

No. The cities listed on the weekly Station Guide page identify the originating location of a particular PBS station. This city is the where the station directs much of its signal, but it also serves the surrounding region. If you live in a suburb or city near one listed on the PBS Station Guide page, there is a good chance you receive that PBS station and can view Sit and Be Fit. By taking a look at our PBS Contact Information page, you can find the phone number for the station nearest you and contact them to find out whether or not they air us in your community.
